8. Will changing my oil more often than the recommended interval      outlined by my auto manufacturer prolong the life of
     my engine?

It is important to understand the severity of your operating conditions. Under normal driving conditions the OEM has set a recommended oil change interval based on many hours of testing and research into the desired frequency of change needed to get optimum life from the engine. Changing oil more often wastes oil, your time and money.

9. The colour of my oil/grease has darkened compared to when it      was new. Is is still OK to use?

Yes, its still OK to use. Some oils and greases contain small amounts of additives that will darken with exposure to sunlight, UV light, temperature or air. Since this colour change is the result of oxidation of the additives, which constitute a very small portion of the oil or grease, there would be very little, if any, functional change to the lubricant.

10. Is your grease waterproof?

No grease is truly waterproof, but our customers argue that our Lithium based greases are so water-repellant that they practically become waterproof. MILEX greases are characterized by superior mechanical stability and extreme high load carrying capability. It has excellent resistance to water, oxidation and corrosion, and outperforms other high temperature greases.

11. What does NLGI #2 or #3 mean?

The numbers represent a scale created by the National Lubricating Grease Institute to measure the viscosity (penetration) of industrial or automotive grease. The NLGI scale ranges from 000 to 6, with 000 being the most fluid grease and 6 the most solid.
